Make opening and closing your hot tub easier with the Cover Valet™ Spa Cover Lifter, a premium cover removal system designed for smooth, convenient operation. Dual gas shocks assist with lifting and lowering the spa cover, reducing the effort required to handle a large or heavy cover and making it easier for one person to prepare the spa for use.
The Cover Valet is especially useful when space around your hot tub is limited. It requires only 6–8 inches of clearance behind the spa and approximately 2.5 inches on each side, making it a practical choice for spas positioned near walls, inside many gazebos or enclosures, or in other compact backyard settings.
A locking gas shock helps hold the cover securely in the open position until you are ready to close it. When raised, the spa cover also creates a convenient privacy barrier on one side of the hot tub.
Built for dependable outdoor use, the Cover Valet features a durable powder-coated finish with zinc-plated hardware for added resistance to everyday outdoor exposure. It can be mounted directly to the spa cabinet or to a deck for recessed and in-ground spa installations.
Two sizes are available to accommodate a wide range of square and rectangular hot tubs: the CV250 fits covers up to 91 inches, while the CV400 fits covers up to 104 inches.

Q: Your info states, "Cover Valet is perfect for tight spaces like within a gazebo or spas set in a sunken deck, because they only need 6-8 feet behind your spa to effectively store your cover." Am I right in assuming you mean 6-8 inches (not feet) behind your spa?
A: You are correct. Thank you for pointing that out. We will update the description.
Q: Can I get installation instructions before purchasing the lift to make sure it will work with my setup?
A: Installation instructions for the Cover Valet can be found here: http://covervalet.com/_resources/pdf/lifters/cv_inst.pdf
Q: I have a 90" square spa with the corners that have a 17" radius. Which lift is best for my spa cover and what additional parts are required?
A: For a 90" square, we would recommend the Cover Valet CV250, however both the 250 and 400 would work. You would need to get the XL Side Mount Bracket — For Spas with Large Radius Corners to accommodate a radius over 12". More information about the XL Side Mount Brackets can be found here: https://covervaletparts.com/products/cover-valet-xl-bracket
Q: is this a cover for the tub or just a lift?
A: It is a lifter for the cover.
Q: The width must be adjustable to work on various sized spas, my spa is approx 79" wide x 79" . It would be installed on a tub that is partially surrounded by deck. Does the 1st 1/2 of the cover get manually folded up?
A: Yes, the first half of the spa is manually folded. Then the Cover Valet helps you with the rest.
Q: Is the cover valet recommended for use with large swim spas? We have the Masterspa 19D H2X. It has 2 covers that meet in the middle, so we would need a lift for each side.Does installation require holes to be drilled into the spa shell? I'm concerned that may void the warranty.
A: Yes, holes do have to be drilled into the shell. The Cover Valet can only hold up to max width of 100". It can also be installed into the deck as well.
Q: Must holes be drilled in the spa or can the lifter be screwed to the deck alongside of my sunken spa?
A: Cover Valet states that this lifter can be mounted directly to a deck so drilling into the spa cabinet is not required. However, if you are attaching it to the deck, you will need to drill holes into the deck.
Q: How much clearance does the Cover Valet Spa Cover Lifter need?
A: The Cover Valet requires approximately 6–8 inches of clearance behind the hot tub and 2.5 inches on each side. Its space-saving design makes it a good option for many hot tubs installed near walls, decks, gazebos, and other areas where backyard space is limited.
Q: What size spa covers will the Cover Valet fit?
A: There are two primary Cover Valet sizes. The CV250 is designed for spa covers up to 91 inches, while the CV400 accommodates covers up to 104 inches. The Cover Valet is designed for square and rectangular covers. Always confirm your spa cover dimensions and available clearance before selecting a lifter.
Q: Does the Cover Valet make a heavy hot tub cover easier to lift?
A: Yes. The Cover Valet uses dual gas shocks to assist with lifting and lowering the cover, reducing the amount of effort needed to move it. A locking shock also holds the cover in the raised position. This design makes routine one-person cover removal much easier than manually lifting and storing a bulky spa cover.
Q: Can I use the Cover Valet Cover Lifter if my tub has radius corners?
A: Yes. The Cover Valet CV250 and CV400 can both be used on tubs with a corner radius up to 12". If your radius is larger than 12" you will need the XL Side Mounting Brackets. More information about the XL Side Mounting Brackets can be found here: https://covervalet.com/cover-lifters/cover-valet/#1694124833197-392240d1-97aa
Q: Is there a maximum spa cover weight for the Cover Valet?
A: Cover Valet does not specify a maximum cover weight for this lifter. Instead, compatibility is primarily based on the size and shape of the spa cover and the available mounting space. Because waterlogged or unusually heavy covers can place additional stress on any cover lifter, we recommend replacing a saturated or excessively heavy cover rather than relying on a lifter to compensate for the added weight.
Q: Is the Cover Valet a good choice for seniors or people who have difficulty lifting a heavy spa cover?
A: Yes. The Cover Valet is an excellent option for many seniors and anyone who wants to reduce the effort required to open and close a hot tub cover. Its dual gas shocks assist with lifting and lowering the cover, making operation considerably easier than manually removing and storing a bulky spa cover. Some physical effort is still required to fold and begin moving the cover, so users with significant strength or mobility limitations may still need assistance.
